Determination of Solubility, Supersolubility, and Metastable Zone Width of Li2CO3 in the LiCl–CaCl2–NdCl3–PrCl3–FeCl3 Solution Environment from 293.15 to 363.15 K

The turbidity technology was employed to determine the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li2CO3 in the mixed solution of the LiCl–CaCl2–NdCl3–PrCl3–FeCl3 environment over a temperature span from 293.15 to 363.15 K. The experimental data show that the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li2CO3 in a LiCl solution are mainly affected by temperature and concentration of LiCl solution. In addition, increasing the concentration of the Na2CO3 solution significantly alters the supersolubility and metastable zone width of Li2CO3. The addition of impurity ions (Ca2+, Nd3+, Pr3+, Fe3+) noticeably increases the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li2CO3. The effect mechanism of impurity ions on the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li2CO3 in solution is the salting out of LiCl and salting in of CaCl2, NdCl3, PrCl3, and FeCl3. Overall, this research provides fundamental data for the industrial-scale manufacture of Li2CO3 via crystallization technology.
