来源:ACS PublicationsPure cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) and yttrium-doped cobalt ferrite (CoY0.2Fe1.8O4) nanofilms were fabricated using nanoparticles synthesized via a self-combustion route and assembled through the Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) technique. These nanostructured films were employed as anodes to investigate the effects of Y3+ incorporation in the structure and the application of an external magnetic field on the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction confirmed a reduction in particle and crystallite size upon Y doping, while X-ray photoelectron...

来源:ACS PublicationsThe development of 3D hydrophobic porous adsorbents for oil/water separation that are inexpensive, easy to fabricate, highly efficient, and physically and chemically durable continues to be a major research focus and a critical issue to be addressed. In this study, a facile and universal wettability transition strategy of amphiphilic melamine sponge (MS) was developed via simple dip-coating MS in rare earth ion solutions, taking Ce ion as a representative example. The formation of abundant coordination bonds between Ce ions and nitrogen atoms on a MS skeleton effectively dec...

来源:ACS PublicationsElectrochemical water splitting presents a promising method for producing hydrogen, a cleaner and more sustainable fuel. However, its broader application is hindered by the limited availability and high cost of noble metal electrocatalysts, such as platinum, iridium, palladium, and ruthenium, which are known for their efficiency in facilitating water splitting. Rare earth metals, with their distinctive 4f electronic configurations, versatile valencies, robust metal–oxygen interactions, and tunable electronic properties, demonstrate significant potential in reducing energy ba...

来源:pubs.rsc.orgThe synthesis and photophysical properties of tacn- or pyclen-based macrocyclic complexes featuring extended thioanisole-picolinate antennas are reported. These systems efficiently sensitize Eu(III) luminescence, whereas Tb(III) emission is quenched due to back-energy transfer (BET). In all lanthanide-containing complexes (Eu, Tb and Gd), the sulfide donor group was readily oxidized by HOCl to the corresponding sulfoxide or sulfone. Upon oxidation, the Tb(III) complexes became highly luminescent and act as OFF–ON probes when excited at the isosbestic point (302 nm). Finally, a w...
