来源:ACS PublicationsA series of NaRESe2 (RE = Sm, Gd–Lu) compounds were synthesized as single crystals, and NaRESe2 (RE = Ce, Pr, Nd) was synthesized as polycrystalline powders using the boron chalcogen mixture (BCM) method. The detailed synthesis, single-crystal structure characterization, magnetic properties, and optical properties of the NaRESe2 series are reported. The structures of the crystals were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This series crystallizes in the trigonal (R̅3m) crystal system, where the RE3+ ions form a triangular lattice. Magnetic property measurements ...

来源:ACS PublicationsHighly polar solvents are generally considered to significantly quench the luminous emission of rare-earth doping luminescence materials. In this work, we reported a counterintuitive luminescence phenomenon in Dy/Eu@Gd-MOFs. Their photoluminescence (PL) behaviors in propanol/butanol isomers exhibit trends of emission intensity that inversely correlate with solvent polarity. This phenomenon should not be simplistically ascribed to quenching induced solely by reabsorption, solvent effects, or high-frequency vibrational groups. The structural differences among propanol and buta...

来源:ACS PublicationsThe utility of lanthanide-based circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) probes in biological systems is frequently limited by kinetic lability and excitation-related toxicity. To overcome these barriers, we have engineered rigid chiral Ir(III)–Eu(III) dyads (Ir–Eu–R and Ir–Eu–S) using a stereoselective ″complex-as-ligand″ strategy. This architecture features a kinetically inert DO3A macrocycle (1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-triacetic acid) that effectively preserves the stereochemical environment, yielding intense CPL (|glum| = 0.12) with substantial brightness (BCPL ...

来源:ACS PublicationsApatite serves as one of the host minerals for rare earth elements (REE). Elucidating the site preference of REE within the apatite structure is critical for understanding their enrichment mechanisms, ore-forming processes, and potential utilization. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) is a key technique in such research. However, natural apatite commonly exhibits compositional zoning, and the sample size requirements of SCXRD often hinder the characterization of structural variations among different zones. Consequently, there is a pressing need in Earth sciences for an...
