来源:pubs.rsc.orgThe synthesis and photophysical properties of tacn- or pyclen-based macrocyclic complexes featuring extended thioanisole-picolinate antennas are reported. These systems efficiently sensitize Eu(III) luminescence, whereas Tb(III) emission is quenched due to back-energy transfer (BET). In all lanthanide-containing complexes (Eu, Tb and Gd), the sulfide donor group was readily oxidized by HOCl to the corresponding sulfoxide or sulfone. Upon oxidation, the Tb(III) complexes became highly luminescent and act as OFF–ON probes when excited at the isosbestic point (302 nm). Finally, a w...

来源:ACS PublicationsSnSe has attracted considerable interest in thermoelectric research owing to its intrinsically low lattice thermal conductivity and distinctive electronic band structure. However, the development of n-type SnSe remains constrained by the low efficiency of electron doping. In this work, a synergistic strategy involving rare-earth element doping and vacancy compensation is employed to enhance the thermoelectric performance of n-type SnSe polycrystals. Rare-earth elements (La, Ce, Nd, and Pr) are systematically investigated as electron dopants. The results indicate that Pr exhi...

来源:ACS PublicationsRelaxor ferroelectric crystals are cornerstone materials for electromechanical and electro-optic technologies, yet the antagonism between piezoelectric performance and optical transparency has persistently impeded device integration. Here, we demonstrate that Sm3+ doping in Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) single crystals shatters this conventional compromise, achieving an exceptional piezoelectric coefficient (d33 = 3500 pC/N) by [001]-poling and a large electro-optic coefficient (γc = 700 pm/V) by [110]-poling while retaining 70% optical transmittance across the visible-ne...

来源:ACS PublicationsA unique phenomenon in high-performance solid-state electrolytes of rare-earth halides is the strong dependence of ionic conductivity on the valence state anisotropy of the rare-earth elements, which potentially impedes ion transport. To probe the presence and effects of such anisotropy, the stable crystal structures, electronic structures, ionic conductivities, and Li-migration barriers in Li3YbCl6 ionic conductors with two space groups (Pna21/Pnma) have been investigated using a first-principles approach. The change in valence state is quantified by calculating the density...
